Wayne (Russ) Dohrman served in the Army, stateside and the national guard in artillery from 1970-1976 in both Fort Campbell, Kentucky and Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He has stayed involved in the life of veterans since that time, coming alongside vets in numerous ways. He has been a part of the American Legion for many years and his current responsibilities include being Vice Commander, membership director: Squadron Commander, and Son of The American Legion(SAL) working at the Veterans.Resource.Center, at the Huntington Beach Central Library in his service to veterans. He is also a volunteer at the Long Beach VA, working with the Patient Center Care and on leadership teams responsible to Walt Dannenberg, President Long Beach VA. Wayne (Russ) is also a part of the Community Emergency Response Team(CERT). Most recently, he has been asked and responded by being part of a virtual training focus group at Hoag Hospital and by direction of the Huntington Beach Fire Chief, hands out masks at the Huntington Beach Pier on Saturdays and Sundays. He works with the Faith Based Working Group with (OCVMFC) THE ORANGE COUNTY VETERANS & MILITARY FAMILIES COLLABORATIVE. In his community, Wayne (Russ) also has volunteered at First Christian Church Huntington Beach, for many years in the Community Resource Center serving veterans and those who have encountered life setbacks with rent, food and utilities. He has also participated in two homebuilding trips in 2015 and 2017 to Chile and Ecuador for families who lost their homes from earthquakes and tsunamis. He has been amazing in his dedication to veterans and the community with tireless energy, an infectious smile, easy manner and focused attention.
